Best Graphics Card For Apex Legends
Apex Legends has become a popular FPS battle royale and along with the likes of Fortnite has millions of players coming back every month. And while respawn entertainment have released this as free to play, there are still some minimum system requirements that need to be met by your PC in order to run apex legends even on medium settings.
We have created a list of the best graphics cards for Apex Legends, some are excellent options for playing at 4K while others are more budget options and play perfectly at 1080p resolution. If you are playing Apex Legends and want to improve then playing at higher settings or higher refresh monitors are a great easy change you can make. Alternatively, if you are looking for a graphics card to play more than just Apex Legends then our guide on the best budget GPU’s.
Best Graphics Cards For Apex Legends Reviewed
1.RTX 2080 TI
Don’t be discouraged by the price tag. This is an extremely powerful GPU and deserves the high end price tag it has. But this is probably overkill for 90% of PC gamers. Unless you are playing Apex Legends at 4K then you will not need this. But if your budget stretches this far, then this is the top choice. This GPU competes with the Radeon vii and other Nvidia GPU’s.
The RTX 2080 is the direct successor of the GTX 1080 Ti which demanded a similar price tag a few years ago. With 4352 Cuda cores, it’s no surprise that Nvidia designed this GPU to utilise 11 GB of DDR6 VRAM. And the 1665 Mhz Clock speed helps play at the best settings with maximum frames.
2.GTX 1660 Ti
With performance between the 2060 and 1060, the 1660 bridges the gap between expensive and high performance GPU’s. If you plan to run apex legends on high settings at 1080p or are playing apex legends at medium settings at 1440p then this is the GPU for you.
I believe this card to be the best mid range GPU at the moment, but we will see a few similar options later in the guide. While this GPU is not cheap, its great value for money and allows you to experience lots of games to a high quality.
You can expect to get around 10% more performance on 1080p games than the 1060 6GB models and as much as 25% extra performance when gaming at 1440p. And beats the GTX 1070 by around 10% on most things. It achieves all this while keeping power consumption to a minimum beating both GPU’s by about 10 watts. And outperforms the GTX 1080 by some margin.
3.GTX 1080 Ti
While this is an older GPU, the GTX 1080 Ti is probably still overkill and still demands a high price tag in comparison to the other GPU’s on this list. If you are going to run apex legends at 144hz or play apex legends at 1440p though, the GTX 1080 is the perfect option for you.
The GTX 1080 will allow you to play other AAA games on a 144hz monitor with 144 FPS. This covers any battle royale but higher quality and newer games might require you to drop a few settings down.
The GTX 1080 Ti nets you an impressive 11 GB of DDR5 VRAM, which admittedly is slower than newer DDR6, with 3584 CUDA cores. And the GTX 1080 makes full use of its 1683 MegaHertz Boost Clock which makes this GPU still one of the best to this day!
4.RX 5600 XT 6GB GDDR6
The 200-300 dollar price range is one of the most popular and this GPU fits into that bracket quite nicely. Bottom line, if you are spending this much money you want a great gaming experience and the AMD 5600 XT provides just that. A solid gaming experience at 1080p and 1440p.
You can even get some VR out of this graphics card but don’t expect it to be a future proof solution. If you want to game on the highest settings no matter the game then this is the benchmark of GPU’s you should be looking. AMD released this GPU to be the best budget graphics card and people soon started to upgrade from their older GTX 1060’s.
The downside to this GPU is that it is quite power hungry in comparison the Nvidia models which compete both in performance and price point. With a single 8-pin connector you should really use this with a 500+ watt power supply
5.GTX 1650 Super 4GB GDDR6
Now one of my favourite cards to come out in the last few years is the GTX 1650 which was released in November 2019. And has since become the best value for money GPU on the market. With impressive benchmarks and a price under $200 is the best budget option for video cards to run Apex Legends.
So, there are some options which are more powerful and there are options which are cheaper. But when you compare stats this is the sweet spot. This is a super-compact high-performance GPU which is great for smaller PC systems and smaller m-atx cases all while outperforming previous-gen cards like the GTX 1080, GTX 1070 and GTX 1060 and GTX 970.
Using the latest Nvidia architecture, companies like ASUS and EVGA are factory overclocking these cards to get 1280 Cuda cores on a small circuit board along with 4GB of VRAM, which is on the lower side. A 128-bit memory bus and 1725 Mhz clock speed help this GPU perform excellently in the most modern games at both 1080p and 1440p, VR and even perform well while editing videos.
6.Radeon RX 570 8gb GDDR5
The most common belief when it comes to the green vs red debate is that Nvidia is the option for high performance and AMD is the option for cheap, budget options. While this has some semblance of truth to it, AMD architecture has improved and allowed AMD to compete for higher performance, higher value price points.
This is an older card but has continued to prove a popular option even now. The price has decreased since its release, as all cards do over time. But this is not an option for the future. I would start by saving for the GTX 1650 if you are interested in gaming.
The 570 really comes up aces as a great GPU for mining cryptocurrency and other more mainstream processes like video editing and rendering. This is because the 570 has a whopping 8 GB’s of ram compared to the supers 4 GB.
It could be considered the best cheap graphics processor for 1080p gaming. If you want to play at 4k, see the options above!
This GPU can support up to 6 screens simultaneously but is a high power consumption GPU. This GPU requires an 8-pin connection to a minimum of 500 watt PSU. Although it comes with 6 and 4 pin adapters so if you don’t have a 6 pin slot spare you should be fine.

Don’t be discouraged by the 2080 Ti price tag. This high end GPU deserve that price and if you can afford it is you best option all round. However, the 2080 Ti is totally unnecessary to get this if you just want good framerates at HD gaming. If you want to play apex legends at 4k and 144 framerates then you should probably save for the 2080 Ti.
This titan rtx video card makes full use of 4352 CUDA cores and overclocked 11 GB GDDR6 memory with a 1665 MegaHertz Boost Clock to get a massive 100+ frames per second on max settings at 4K resolution. Apex Legends Graphics Card Buyer’s Guide
Features to Consider when buying a graphics card to play Apex Legends
When it comes to manufacturing video cards there are really only 2 choices. Nvidia and AMD. These two companies produce the best reference cards on the market. There are vendors who take these reference designs and improve upon them. Companies like ASUS, Gigabyte and EVGA sell custom cards which usually have higher power, performance and cost.
When you are deciding which card is right for you, there are a few things you need to take into account. Investing in an expensive GPU is one of the most important decisions when it comes to building or upgrading your PC. Getting the most FPS for your money is sometimes difficult to understand but in this guide, we have outlined which card you should buy depending on your situation. Each card on this list has earned its place and will give you endless hours of fun.
Video memory, most commonly called VRAM or GPU ram, is similar to the normal RAM your PC uses. Which is called DRAM by the way. But if you are asking what is VRAM? then you have come to the right place.
VRAM is a specialised type of ram that is used to store data for your GPU to process. It’s much faster for your GPU to access the memory on your ram compared to an SSD or HDD.
This is why things like texture filtering, frame buffers and the assets of a game such as lighting and other graphics settings are stored. This is why the difference between low settings, medium settings and high settings really changes the number of GB of VRAM used.
How to determine how much VRAM is needed?
As we just said, primarily the settings you play at will determine how much VRAM you need, from the field of view. to draw distance, model detail and effects detail.
The first thing to consider is the resolution of your monitor. Most people will be gaming at 1080p resolution but it’s becoming more common to see 1440p and even 4k setups. The higher the resolution the more VRAM you will need.
The second is the settings you will use. Things like Anti-aliasing which smooths curves and other post-processing effects like FXAA and MXAA use ALOT of extra space.
How much VRAM Do I Need? To be honest, it depends but if you are aiming to play new releases on high settings and at 1080p then you should really aim for a minimum of 6GB. If you want to play at 4K go for 10+ GB of VRAM.
GPU Clock Speed
Put simply, the clock speed is the speed at which your GPU can process information such as textures and games assets. Fast GPU’s will have high core clock speeds. Now, this is common for 1500 Mhz base clocks with it rising to 1800 Mhz boost clocks. Clock speed cant be relied upon to compare GPU’s with different architectures. Basically, you can only use this to compare GPU’s from the series.
Memory Bandwidth and Memory Speed
Memory bandwidth is like the width of the doors in your house. The wider, the more people can fit through at once, similarly the higher the bandwidth the more information which can be sent to and from the GPU.
However, this is where the analogy sort of falls off. As newer models are released, the efficiency also increases. You can think of this as people getting slimmer. so the doors might not get bigger but more people can go through.
Because of this, it is quite hard to use this to compare cards of different generations. This is only a reliable way of comparing GPU’s in the same series.
Monitor’s Refresh Rate
If you have a normal monitor like most people then your refresh rate will be about 59 or 60 Hz. This is why its important to get 60 FPS in games. The refresh rate of your monitor should match the FPS you get in games. If you have a gaming monitor you are likely aiming for the 144Hz mark. If that’s the case then you will need a powerful GPU.
The more powerful GPU’s offer more FPS. And in the world of gaming, everyone loves more frames. If you have ever had a game stutter or show signs of graphical lag? his is likely down to out-of-sync rendering. Nvidia released a solution to this called V-sync which forces the GPU to run at the same frames as your monitors refresh rate.
